Life's Autumn

As I pass though life’s autumn, a feeling starts to sing. It tells me things are winding down, much like an old watch spring. Things so clear or easy once, are not so anymore. My thoughts turn brown and brittle and flutter to the floor. I know there’s time ahead of me, for winter’s not yet here, but it’s tapped me on the shoulder – a reminder that it’s near. The time for some reflection, and sorting through the past, has clamored for attention like sails before the mast. No one knows what lies ahead, once past the doors of death, so I’ll concentrate on living until my final breath. ~ by chalkdawg
